My Art Takes a Bite of the Big Apple: Debut at ArtExpo NYC April 4-7th 2024!
Hey Art Aficionados! 🎨 Have you heard the news? My canvases are crossing the pond, and guess what? They’re about to make their grand entrance at none other than ArtExpo in New York City from April 4-7th! That's right, after leaving some colorful footprints across Europe, my abstract musings are ready to mingle with the skyscrapers. Oh, it's going to be a hoot!
From Vienna to NYC: A Journey in Color
Just when I thought sipping coffee in Vienna was the peak of my artistic escapade, December 2023 waved goodbye with a flourish, leaving me with memories and enough inspiration to fuel a rocket. Or, you know, an entire 2024 exhibition season! 💥
And here we are, gearing up for the first show of the year – in the city that never sleeps, no less. I'm thrilled, I'm caffeinated, and I'm probably running on pure adrenaline and paint fumes at this point.
Big City, Big Dreams, and Even Bigger Canvases
You know the saying, "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere"? Well, my art is putting that to the test. It's surreal to think that the very streets that have inspired legends are now the backdrop to my abstract creations.
Pumped? You bet! I’m bouncing around like a kid who’s had one too many gummy bears. But beyond the excitement and the jitters, there’s this humbling sense of pride. To think my art, yes, the stuff that often begins with “happy accidents” and serendipitous paint splatters, will be on display in NYC. It's like telling your mom you finally learned how to fold a fitted sheet properly – it's a big deal, okay?
Art with Heart: A Cause Close to the Canvas
And hey, in case you think it's all about the glitz and glamour, there's a layer to this that goes even deeper than my thickest painting. Every sale from this exhibition – just as with all my shows – goes directly to support education for girls and women. Because, while art can beautify spaces, education can transform lives, and make a difference.
Save the Date, Steal the Scene
Now, here's where you come in. Whether you're a curator with an eye for the avant-garde or an art enthusiast who gets giddy at the sight of fresh strokes on canvas, I'm extending you the artsiest of olive branches to come and check out the show and maybe you'll find a piece that whispers (or shouts) your name.
I hope you become a part of this abstract adventure in the concrete jungle. Until then, keep dreaming in color and, most importantly, keep chasing those dreams, whether they're sketched on a napkin or splashed on a vast canvas! 🌆
And remember folks, it's not just about the hustle and bustle. Sometimes, it's about pausing to appreciate a splash of color that brightens the greyest of cityscapes.
ArtExpo NYC – where dreams and colors meet.

Hope you’ll check out the expo…. If you can’t make it to NYC, follow me on Instragram (@almaskabanifineart) for updates and photos from the show. Until then, paint the town red... or blue, or magenta, or chartreuse... you get the picture.
Copper is used extensively in contemporary art, with artists like me exploring different ways to incorporate it into their work. I've seen it as a drawing tool, creating intricate line patterns with its malleability, while some use sheets of copper to create striking sculptures and installations. I use copper in mixed media works, combining it with other materials to create beautiful and unique pieces. I feel it warms up the piece, ads a touch of glamour and glitter to the piece and generally, makes me feel happy inside.
The Copper Mine shows the striking texture and color of copper, set against a black background. It is simple, elegant and a perfect piece to add sophistication to your space.
The opening flower scene of My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn is iconic. It set the tone for Eliza's character and displayed her love for the simple things in life- a characteristic that jumped from the screen. She mesmerized me with her singing voice, beauty, elegance, and poise in that scene. No matter what age, this movie makes my heart smile.
Much of my art mimics the cacophony found in the wild display of flowers in the flower market. One of my favorite movies of all time, I can watch it over and over again! I hope you like the painting Flower Market, as its in direct homage to an elegant lady and the beautiful movie she was in.
So honored and delighted to be exhibiting at MAMAG. If you are in Europe this Fall, please visit and see my art being displayed until December 20, 2021

Mystery – a sign asked for and received
I was so excited and thrilled when I discovered "Mystery" was selected as one of the Finalists in the November Bold Brush Competition! Wow! What an honor!
For me, every painting is a wonderful adventure, a dream yet to be realized, and a result that I am excited to see! The combination of colors together with accents just happen as I paint and the rest of the world fades away! I’ve painted a lot of pieces and with each one, a little part of me wonders if anyone else will see what I see. Will they like it? Because I have set a lofty goal for my paintings, I prayed that I would be shown a sign to tell me I was on the right path. To be chosen as a Finalist in such a prestigious and tough contest is an absolute honor! I know I’ve chosen the right journey and the right medium through which to achieve my goal.
It's been a fascinating journey so far in the world of art and I owe a lot to my only art teacher, Joe Mac Kechnie, a brilliant artist himself. It has been one of my true blessings over the years to have known such a wonderful teacher and human being. I have learned so much from Joe. I do not believe I would have come this far without him. He has not only been an amazing and patient teacher, he has been my Encourager-in-chief! I value his advice, always. His gentle soul has a calming effect and brings out the wonders from the depth of the mind and the soul and also instills in me to be adventurous and try new forms. Thank you, Joe!
